I’ve just turned 55 and thanks to a few smart investments and my ability to hoard cash (which earned me the affectionate nickname “scrooge” by my ex-wife) I have decided to retire a little earlier than most. Why Manchester I hear you cry? I’m a northerner at heart and I’ve got a holiday home – Manchester is where I belong.
The house purchase has gone through and the one thing I always hated about moving house was installing new fixtures and fittings. After a little bit of persuasion (and a little bit of financial recompense) the previous owners were convinced into leaving all the existing blinds and light fittings in place.
My next step will be to purchase a bunch of new furniture and finding a way to spend my twilight years. Any suggestions?
